Scar tissue remediation is the gentle massage of a scar, which makes tissue supple again. it offers participants relief from pain, regaining sensation after experiencing numbness, improved blood circulation, and emotional release.
Painful sex and postpartum can cause scar tissue. This is still a largely unaddressed issue in dominant culture.
Scars of all kinds/places welcome.
This service is open to people of all gender identities and body types.
What is scar tissue?
Fibrous (fibrotic) tissue that forms when normal tissue is destroyed by injury, surgery or disease. For example, scar tissue can form when a wound heals after cuts, sores, burns, skin conditions, or when incisions are made into the skin during surgery.
Collagen formation and scar tissue:
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, about 30% of your bodily protein. Next to water, collagen is the most common component of connective tissue. It is a fiber protein in the extracellular matrix (ECM) or fascia which gives tensile strength and structure to the tissue.
The body forms new collagen fibers to mend damage, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than surrounding tissue.
What is Somatic Recall?
When the body remembers something that the mind did not. Through breath, massage and safe enough space to voice what transpires, scar tissue releases and reconfigures itself.
This is an integrative approach that involves a whole body experience, resolving bodily pain and numbness. It is in service of restoring sensation, confidence and improved overall wellbeing.
